- D. Nathan Hilliard lives in Spring, Texas with his veterinarian wife, two children, and two cats. He draws his inspiration from a childhood living in different small Texas towns, accented by teen years spent in western New Mexico. He has experienced life through a diverse collection of jobs ranging from meter reading and being an assistant manager at a convenience store, to working at cotton gins, window factories, and uranium mills. After coming down with Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) at the turn of the century, Mr. Hilliard now happily settles for tending house, raising his kids, and exploring the field of writing.

ReplyDeleteOn another note, You are making me wonder about my fitness as a parent. My daughter (6 in Oct) knows not the sublime joy of Frito-Pies and Slushies. An oversight I will correct this Christmas!
Don't feel bad. I'm chock full of parent's guilt myself, which is what prompted me to start this weekly ritual. He loves it, and I have a good time too.
ReplyDeleteRemember, guys, kids don't come with an instruction manual and we all make mistakes raising them. You do the best you can with what you know and look back later, wishing you had known more and done better. But the fact that you can feel guilty is a step ahead of a crowd of parents who don't bother. But the frito pies and slushies are a great memory for all involved.
